Valentines coming up! Do you have any plans? Or is it just a day like any other? I think I’ve always celebrated it, single or not! This year my boyfriend and I are probably going to the movies and then eat something at home. I’m just finished with my gift, and figure I can show you if you need some ideas. I wanted to do something personal and something I could write in, and therefore did my favorite DIY project- the scrapbook out of toilet paper rolls!
But this time I didn’t put in any photos, instead I wrote some notes. This is what you need to make the valentine album:
- A scissor
- Five flattened toilet paper rolls
- Glue/ mounting squares
- A scissor
- Hole punch
Here are the steps for making a DIY valentine gift for him or her:
Start with measuring the paper so it’ll fit the roll. As you can see on the picture, the paper should be bigger than the roll (about a centimeter on both sides, and also some extra on the length).
Time to glue one side of the roll onto the paper.
Cut the edges.
Glue and tuck the paper into the sides inside of the roll.
Then glue the shorter paper that’s on the length onto the roll. The paper’s a little bit longer than the roll, tuck the paper inside of the roll as well.
Glue the other side of the roll onto the paper.
Cut away the paper that’s longer than the roll.
Glue and tuck the paper into the sides inside of the roll, just like you did in step 4.
Cover all five of the rolls in paper!
Make five innerpockets. I used my tag punch board.
Decorate the front page (or do this later, your choice, I don’t have enough patient, haha). But make sure to save room for the holes!
Make holes in the innerpockets and add some eyelets (if you want).
Make holes in the rolls too (this is where you are going to bind the album).
Add ribbon both in the innerpockets and also tie the rolls together with the ribbon. You can also use rings to bind the album (like I did here).
And here is the result! I won’t show you the inside since I wrote some notes which feel too personal to share here, I’m sorry guys, haha! But here’s some ideas of themes you can have:
- “You make me smile when…”
- “I can’t wait to…”
- “My favorite memories with you”
If there were something you didn’t understand you can always comment, write to me on Instagram, or check the videos I posted on Instagram! Good luck, and have a great Valentines!2
